Thinking of starting a new club

    Hello all,

I’m thinking of organising a weekend group of riders into a casual club, getting together at weekends and evenings etc

I was trying to find a club in Leicester that operates on the actual east of Leicester ie Wigston, Oadby, Thurby, Stoughton etc.
It seems the only club/closet club is Leicester Forest East which looks great but it’s a little out of the way from me (about 15mi through city center at silly o’clock I think so a 30mi round trip on top of the distance the club will do) Seems pedantic of me I know and probably will bite the bullet and move my lazy ass over town to the meet but thought I’d give this a try.

I’ll get to the point, is there any cyclists around Leicester that would like to get together for weekend rides of around 60+ miles, so far I have 2-3 regular riders, potentially more but looking for more riders.

We are all in our early 20’s, hoping for an average speed of 16+ mph with a couple of stops routes looking to go in the direction of rutland/oakham area.

Good suggestion! I recently found out about Welland Valley CC, but there website doesn’t give any information about the rides so I have no idea where to find them!

Get in touch with monmouthshirewheelers.cc if you want advice , we started last year in exactly the same way and we now have sponsors and funding from both British cycling and monmouthshire county council .
Friendly club and I’m sure the committee members would be more than willing to advise you on things if it’s wanted 🙂
