Selling a set of limited edition Mavic SSC SL Mavic Ksyrium wheels, in tubular model (not for clinchers) top end wheels from 2004. These would make a perfect addition to a cross bike or road bike. Set of wheels, with no skewer.

The Good; These wheels were top of the range in their day, and weigh less than 1500 grams, they are  lighter than the standard models from the same era. The free hub is clean and bearings run smooth.

The Bad; The spokes are covered in scratches and scrapes. Having said that the hubs are in good condition. The stickers on both wheels are pretty scraped too. Some tub glue on the rim seat, which is standard and come off with cleaner. Considering this, they run fairly straight.

The rear wheel rim, it is pretty concave from braking, and in places the brakes have worn completely through, I am really not sure if the wheel is useable, although I have not ridden these myself so cannot verify.

The front wheel is in better condition, being only slightly concave from braking. I would say this one is fine to use for some time yet. As the rims are tubular tyres they will perhaps not blow out to the same degree as a clincher, but still a risk.

Ideally these wheels will go to someone who can use the hubs Spokes from the rear for spares. A new free hub is over £40.00. I contacted Mavic and they don’t stock replacement rims for this age of wheel
