Do people think @BradleyWiggins legs are up for climbing this season?

Might be a cheap fantasy buy for the DL if he's got the climbing legs 39

Ok, it might have been a bit harsh, but i still dont think Sky should be building a team around him, yes get a few decent guys around him, but not the whole team, i will wait and see the line up for the TdF to judge

I dont think anyone can live with Contador this year if nothing breaks down on him

I think Andy Schleck is no where near his best, that being last years TdF

If Wiggo can keep himself in there, i will be pleasantly surprised, but i dont know if he can get a top 10 because the course just looks a bit to much for him, If he'd rode the Giro, there is no chance he would have been able to do anything in the TdF, so i think riding the DL was a decent choice, but i would have rather seen him in the TdS, but it looks like he's gonna win the DL, so good on him

But i still think it can be used as a fall back excuse if he cant keep up in the TdF

It's a great thing to add to his palmares and I'm pleased for Wiggins if that's what he wanted but I wonder if he hasn't just blown his shot at a good showing in the Tour.

He said last year he got too carried away by doing the Giro and putting in a strong performance but then not having enough time to recover. Has he done the same thing again ?

OK the Dauphine is only a week rather than three but apart from Indurain and Armstrong (and Wiggins is not in their class as a GT rider) the list of recent Dauphine winners is largely a list of people who were "ones to watch" but never quite backed it up at the Tour.

Do you not think thats just a perfect situation for him though?

Last year he wasn't good in the TdF so blamed his strong Giro, If he's not showing this year again he can now blame how hard he's worked in the DL. A nice way to build up an excuse for just not being a good enough rider to win the TdF and shouldn't really be a team leader

Ooh, that's a bit harsh. Let's face it, over the past quarter century, only 11 riders have won it, and of course there are question marks hanging over a good few of those.

Is Wiggo better than Contador, if he can repeat his Giro form, or Andy Schleck, if he's in the same condition as he was 12 months ago? I doubt it.

But is he better prepared for the race than he was 12 months ago? Almost certainly. The Dauphine certainly isn't the Giro d'Italia, it's a shorter race and one that is much easier to recover from - even Contador is saying that he's still feeling the effects of this year's Giro a fortnight after it finished.

There are riders out there who can attack on the odd day in the mountains, but Contador and perhaps Schleck are the only two who I think can do it day in, day out. The chain incident apart, there was very little to separate them on last year's race.

Wiggins meanwhile is focusing on what he does best - effectively time trialling his way up the ascents. It would have been easy for him to panic yesterday when the attacks came - he didn't, he rode at his own pace, and ended up increasing his lead.

It could be, of course, that Contador or Schleck will suffer a mishap at some point in the Tour that will rule them out of contention. Wiggins is one of the riders that can profit from that. I certainly see him improving on last year and a top ten finish should be well within his grasp.

Beyond that, who knows? If he's in touch going into the penultimate day's ITT in Grenoble, anything's possible.

One thing that is certain - the odds on him getting a podium in the TDF are a lot shorter than they were this time last week.

Vino didn't have that much over him today and the top of the big climb tomorrow is quite a way from the finish, although there isn't a flat section between it and the finish. I think Vino could well take the stage but he won't take more than a minute out of Wiggo.

Over the last 6 weeks I'd say Wiggo's form has only been second to Burger Boy. A long way second mind you.

Because Sky wont build a team around Cav, so he'll not join unless he can have his own little team

Cav currently thinks he's in the "best team in the world" and as long as he's winning will be happy to stay with HTC

Wiggins said that Team Sky would not operate specifically around one sprinter.

“It would be an issue,” Wiggins said. “I know a lot of our riders that left Columbia — Thomas Lofkvist, Michael Barry, Edvald Boasson Hagen, Greg Henderson — they all left because they felt the whole team was built round Cav and they weren’t getting their opportunity.

Dont count your chickens, he's only 1.52 ahead of Vino with a HUGE climb tomorrow where his legs will just explode as Vino leaves him for dead, that SHOULD happen, but i dont know if he will lose nearly 2 mins, i think he'll win the whole thing by 17 seconds, he has surprised me tho, but i think thats it for the season, TdF best he can hope for is 5th 4

Reasons??

You might be right and all the hype about him being unhappy and unappreciated may be for contract reasons,

however there is some compelling arguaments coming up.
This is an interesting article.

Also this new Australian team might temp Goss/Renshaw and that leaves Cav with some of his leadout men. Although he has proved he can still win without either one and both.

Cheers. tfc

We will find out today one way or another. Sky's roster looks really strong. Once Cav finally joins next year they will challenge HTC very strongly. Pure speculation of course.

He's using the DL as a warn up for the TdF, but i dont think he's got a cats chance in hell in the TdF

I wish Sky would work their team to have a few that could have a chance rather than just focusing in Wiggo.

Someone like Eddy Boss, i think he's got a decent chance of finishing high in TdF and even winning it in the future

Do people think Bradley looked good at the end of that Hilly stage yesterday in the CD. He finished high up, but looked knackered imho. . . 39

I always wondered about Wiggo's designation as "team leader" for events like the Tour. Yes, I know he finished well a few years ago. And I also know most GC contenders are also good time trialists.

But with his track background, I've always thought of Wiggins as more of a time trial specialist along the lines of Millar and Cancellara. His big recent victory over Cancellara confirms this for me.

Is Wiggins making the right race choices? Seems to me he would have a lot more success if he focused on TT's and winning hilly, but not mountainous, stages like some of the Classics.

If your asking, do you think he can win the Dauphiné overall then i think NO, but if your wonder, can he win a stage, then yes, The 1st stage is a good chance, with his performance the other week beating fabian cancellara in the TT
