Chain ring issue

My friend has a problem with the chain ring. The chain isn't touching the shifter cage, regardless of which axle cog is being used, under strenuous torque the big ring won't hold the chain and the chain will lift into a downshift.
It has caused him accidents. He can ride slow torque on big ring or max strength on small ring but it has us beat as per why a good looking chain and cog would shift.. Nothing looks bent.
Any ideas please?

Its either bent/loose chainring, worn chainring or the chain itself.

Put bike onto inner chainring and spin cranks to see if outer chainring wobbles or deviates in line.

Check for worn/missing teeth on chainrings.

Replace chain.

All else fails replace chain and outer chainring

Try not to use huge torque when cross chaining, it could lead to chain dropping.
