Fake/faulty Shimano SPD cleats?

Hi all
Has anyone had Shimano SPD cleats giving problems or breaking?
I bought 2 sets of 'genuine Shimano blue SH12 cleats from a private seller on ebay this week.
The packaging looked real as did the cleats.
On my first ride, maybe the second time I unclipped the cleat felt as though it were made of rubber rather than plastic. It did not positively unclip and snap out but felt like it was twisting. When I checked my shoes at home both blue wear blocks had disappeared.

I took the second set this evening and replaced the faulty cleat. Did a 25 mile ride and when I got home one of the wear blocks was missing.
I have never had that happen before.
So I am curious if anyone else has had an issue?
Thanks.

I have had similar. Barely any use and a walking block has gone.

Only walked a few steps with these and unclipped 2/3 times.

Interesting you should post this. My current pair of SPD SL cleats feel like they have worn out very quickly.  The walking blocks are still attached (I use cleat covers when walking), but clipping in and out feels, like you say, a bit "rubbery" and imprecise.  I've checked the tension screws and cleaned and lubed the pedal mechanism, to no avail.  Mine came from CRC.

Perhaps the manufacturing process has changed?
