So I know the B screw adjustment on Campy rear deraliurs is on the lower arm not at the top like Shimano. However my Record 11 groupset appears to have both. 

From reading in forums it sounds like this is only on some frames that need the extra adjustment. What I want to know is what is a neutral position when tuning if I start with the intended ‘H’ screw on the lower arm? 

Im suffering from a fair amount of noise when riding and it shifts ok so it’s not the indexing. I should mention the rear cassette front rings and chain are fairly new, A’s is the rear deraliur it’s self.

I’ve spoken to them and they are going to look into this again. The rear derailleur they put on was actually the HO version which they said was backward compatible. Not sure if that makes a difference. It shifts well in general as in it’s fast and all, but it’s just quite noisy under load. 

I have to say that I tested some new team bikes with record group sets and they are also quite noisy although not as bad as mine which is also ex team. Maybe Record groupsets on Carbon frames and everything are just very loud?

Pre -2015 shifters are not

Pre -2015 shifters are not compatible with  2015+ derailleurs as the cable pull ratio is different and the indexing is not the same so you will never get the chain properly seated on all the sprockets.  You can adjust the tension so shifting is acceptable on the higher or lower extremes but it is impossible to get consistently good shifting up and down the block.  You need a pre 2015 rear mech from Ebay or speak to your local campag pro shop about replacement.  Condor is a pro shop so I’m surprised they told you it would work.

I’d start from scratch.

I’d start from scratch. Release the gear cable, back out the high/low limiters and B screw as well. Then follow the middle vid.

My rear derailleur is a 2015 record 11 speed rear derailleur (I should mention that this was a replacement for an earlier model Record 11 rear derailleur, so the rest of the group set is pre 2015, Condor cycles who make my frame suggested this was fine) the second link you sent through. The issue I was having seemed to be that when in the largest cog at the Back and smallest at the front, I was getting what appeared to be rubbing of the chain between the hanger cog and the cassette. 

the ratio I’m running is 53/39 front and 12/29 rear. So initially I adjusted the B screw which didn’t seem to do much, so then I looked online and adjusted the H screw (campys version of the B screw.)

It improved a lot and the rubbing between the cassette and cog on the hanger disappeared from what I can tell, but it still doesn’t clean, like is quite loud in general in every gear. 

So I’m trying to understand how to proceed to start from scratch and understand what’s happening. Did I move the B screw and shouldn’t have, or is this used simply for further adjustment should I unscrew and set it up with H screw and only use B screw for extra tweaks? Or is the B screw there for specific frames and this should be set by a qualified mechanic?

First thing – when was the

First thing – when was the last time you had your rear mech hanger checked for alignment? Even if it’s never been dropped/bashed/crashed it could have come out of the factory without being checked. I’ll always do an alignment test on any of my bikes when I get them, new or old.
