I am trying to upload some routes to my new Garmin from my computer. I have already done this once but now that I am on holiday it doesn’t seem to visable as a drive on my computer when I plug it in, does anyone have any suggestions of how to fix or of another way to transfer routes. I have used the IQ app Strava routes on the Garmin today but it was a bit hit and miss

Do you have a uSD card reader
Do you have a uSD card reader? I find that method of copying to NewFiles more reliable than connecting to the device itself.

My 820 has to be switched off

My new 820 has to be switched off before I plug it in or the pc doesn’t recognise it.

Do you have a smart phone?

Do you have a smart phone? You can transfer a route via Bluetooth. I do this on my 810 and my wife’s 820. You can also do it from an IPad if you have one.

Wrong cable – needs a data
Wrong cable – needs a data transfer cable
    Try another usb port
    Reboot
