He has been convicted of the Death by Dangerous driving and of perverting the course of justice, it would be interesting to know how much of the sentence was for each charge.

I would suggest that he has been given around 1/3 of the Maximum 14 years as opposed to nearly 1/2 as it initially appears

I seem to recall another collision which caused a death, in which an apparent lack of remorse was taken as an aggravating factor...  Given this guy's behaviour following the collision, how come they didn't absolutely throw the f-ing book at him...??? surpriseno

So why did the judge not give this bunt the 14 year maximum? His attitude and disrespect for the vics relatives should have got him full life. It also shows that he is not likely to change his ways. As Organon pointed out, Burley (corrected from my mistaken BurNley) will be a place to avoid in a few years time.

One might say that Burnley is always a place to avoid. But the scumbag comes from Burley (in Wharfedale). He seems to do his killing in Leeds, so perhaps that's the place to avoid in a few years time?

After the collision, Munir pretended to police and doctors that he did not know what day it was and was unable to understand simple words to avoid being interviewed. He then went on to buy a new Audi three months after the fatal crash and continued driving.

What an utter shitheel. Clearly though he was going to get away with it.

"Munir, of Argie Avenue, Burley, was jailed for six years, nine months, after being found guilty of causing death by dangerous driving and perverting the course of justice."

So this is a heads up for people cycling in Burnley in late 2022?

Just FYI, it's Burley (an area of Leeds) not Burnley.
