    Dear community,

I am in the hunt (not in a rush) for the bike computer. Just want to have a compact and quality product with maps and good battery life. I am aware of the 520 plus. Just wondering if there is a possibioity for a 530 this year or maybe some other good product to be released. What are your thoughts and insights? I would consider other brabds too, but I hear they are not as good as garmin for mapping.

    THANKS

Personally, I’d consider doing some research on market trends, if all the current innovation is in areas you’re not interested in, waiting won’t net you any advantages. Speed and cadence aren’t about to undergo a revolution. Mapping will probably get better year-on-year though.

    Nice post, THANK YOU!

I think it would be great to see a follower of the 520 this year.

I tend to look at what has

I tend to look at what has been the most heavily discounted by the major retailers recently!  It’s not very scientific, but in the past it’s been a good indicator đŸ™‚

I was looking over Xmas and in the Jan sales for a computer to replace my Lezyne, eventually going for a Garmin 1030, which has so far been fabulous.  Anyway, the most heavily discounted Garmin was the 520, probably because of the plus variant, but the 520 plus was (and still is) also being well discounted (Still 25%ish off at Wiggle, I think).  The 820 is also discounted, but not as high.  Draw whatever conclusions you can from this, i’m probably completely wrong!

I would also recommend the Lezyne GPS computers as well.  I have the C version (colour), and they have a huge amount of functionality for the price, as well as turn by turn directions and breadcrumbs (but not a full map, the Garmins are miles ahead here I think) – really good value for the amount of tech you get.  But they are quite small, and with my poor old eyes it became a struggle to read, hence the upgrade!

    Cheers, G
