Shimano RP9 toe bumper

Bugger. Just tore off the toe bumper on my left shoe. This seems to be a non-replaceable part. The water can now get straight into the shoe. Tried gaffa tape but it just wears away as this is my left shoe so is on the ground whenever i stop. Anyone have a creative idea how i could bodge a replacement?
