Should I wait for the 105 R7000?

Hi all,

I am looking at byuying a new bike, and found a great deal on a Cannondale Synapse Carbon 105. Is it worth me buying this now? Or should I wait for the new range of bikes to be released later this year with the new 105 R7000 groupset?

Thanks,

Use the 105 for your winter training?

Bought a TCR last week and it has 105 rim brake, but I wanted the bike now.

The main change is the hood shape for the hydro discs and the front mech - and if you're going with rim brakes then you could always upgrade the front mech on 5800 and get that (small) benefit. Front shifting is definitely improved, particularly going up from little to big, and the install is neater.

Great question and answer - I think thats a great point - rim brake 105, not a lot in it, so make the most of the discount. Disc brakes are considerably different with much nicer hood shapes on the new R7000.

If it is the disc brake version then definitely wait and spend the little extra for R7000.

If rim brakes, then there's not so much difference (though the new front mech is far better than the old style).

Disc brakes or not? If it's a rim brake bike I'd get the bike now as it doesn't look like there's much difference between R5800 and R7000. The main changes seem to be for disc brakes.

Also if you have a bike to tide you over the summer then by all means wait but if you'd like a bike soon then don't wait for R7000 and it's minor improvements. 105 R5800 is a very capable groupset that should meet all your requirements.
