What does everyone think of this, will they ever happen in the UK? Although guess we need some actual cycle paths first. 
When I saw ‘world’s longest’ I’ll be honest I was a bit surprised that’s only 1.7km still… wouldn’t have minded my whole Bristol to Bath route warmed up for this year’s one too many snow days!

Just a maintained highway

Just a maintained highway free of motorists trying to kill you would suffice, whilst this might be fine so that it’s not frostsed over in winter it’s a bit of a vanity project. Get shot of most of the motors, as I always say, give back the 4.8m on one side to ensure people of all abilities can ride on it would work for most.

If there are more direct lanes that can be used great but often the lanes in urban NL are indirect and meander simply because they can avoid roads, I’ve seen quite a few cycle routes that are much further than going by road. I don’t want to adopt that but completely turn on its head the primary use of the infra we have.
