Me and two others have booked to fly to Alicante in a couple of weeks, and are looking to stay in Calpe… or somewhere with a good location where we can ride multiple mountains over the course of a week. 

Anyone been before, who can help on any of the following?

Best Location? 

Advice for transferring from Alicante airport-Calpe (or wherever we decide to settle)?

 

We considered a hire car, but are on a budget, and the driver is 23 so therefore it’s pricey. We’re also aware we probably won’t fit three bike boxes and three people in one car… (Although if anyone has experience of three bike boxes and three people in one car, what size do you think we’d need….)

I’d definitely suggest a rental car – out of peak season these can be really affordable, and means that you can get to places you might want to ride which are a bit further afield.

We did go into Calpe a couple of times and it’s really nice, would be a good place to stay too I reckon.

 

Edit – just remembered you are 3.  Yeah, you’d need a van probably.  We were two, and something like a Renault Kangoo was perfect.  You could fit 3 bike boxes in the back with the seats down but then only 2 seats.

It looks like public transport from the airport to Calpe is a bit shit, at best.

There’s a direct bus.

Or a mix of bus and two trains.
