Forget autonomous cars - the future is autonomous riderless bikes!

Autonomous cars are such old news. We now have autonomous riderless bikes.

They are starting a trial of autonomous e-bikes in the German city of Magdeburg:

These are cargo-e-tricycles, and the long-term idea is that they would be for hire as part of a bikeshare scheme. You can call them with a smartphone app when you're out shopping, then cycle home and then let them autonomously return to their depot or docking station.

They are going to trial these bikes in real traffic in a few weeks time.

Lol. I hadn't watched that.
I thought I had posted a Yamaha that stood up and followed a designer along the curved stage.
If interested I can post later.
Tricycle is an awesome implementation of a great idea.

Seen a few on web. 1 looks like a car(at least 1).

Would love a tricycle though. That'd be splendid.

Well, that video shows somebody sitting on a stationary motorbike with a virtual reality headset, and it looks as if she has to sit unnaturally still and not move too much so it doesn't fall over. That's really something completely different and I can't see what's "autonomous" about that.

The article is about a standard e-assist pedal tricycle with additional sensors etc. so that it can also cycle off on it's own when nobody is sitting on it. I appreciate not everybody understands the German text, but the picture in that article gives the main idea.

Your link is missing a colon although the description isn't

Thanks, I think I've corrected it now. I used the "link" button in the editor but that seems to have gone wrong...

Didn't Bradley Wiggins have a riderless bike in the Tour of Trentino a few years back?
