The Dunwich Dynamo is a yearly event that runs 120 miles from Hackney Fields to Dunwich, Suffolk at night. It’ll be the Saturday 28th July 2018, which I believe is the same weekend as the Ride London next year.

There’s loads of food pop ups and pubs open late on the route, it’s normally warm enough for summer kit even at night, and it’s a nice chilled ride.

I’ve done it the last 3 years but didn’t this year due to moving house and the logistics were too complicated. The hard bits are getting to Hackney Fields, then getting home from Dunwich. Bearing in mind that Dunwich departures will be early Sunday morning and the train companies aren’t historically very useful for this event and put restrictions in place!

There are coaches operated by various organisations that take you back to North or South London, but now I live in Cambridge that’s no use to me. I contemplated riding to and starting the route at Finchingfield and riding to Dunwich and either staying somewhere or taking a decent lock and rollmat to kip on the beach before riding back on the Sunday. I just wondered if anyone else fancied it, seeing as there’s so much enthusiasm for 24 hour rides at the moment???

Si, it is indeed the same

Si, it is indeed the same weekend as Ride London – which makes it a no go for me. I’d really like to do the Dynamo, but getting into London with a bike that weekend rules it out for me.

What about any similar rides, is there anything similar to the Dunwich Dynamo?
