Although it performs well for a waterproof, my now ageing Montane Stormrider jacket  isnt good in windy conditions as especially the arms cause a lot of drag and flap for road riding. 

Its spec is great (eVent) 30k waterproof 17k breathable, so looking for something similar thats going to be more aerodynamic on the drops.

 

Would the Gore Oxygen 2 be a good option you think?

Has anyone tried Howies’ new

Has anyone tried Howies’ new Blade jacket? It looks the bomb, even if I’d rather find it at sale price. My old waterproof has lost its precipitation-beating edge and re-proofing it hasn’t brought it quite back.

I rode through last winter in a DHB Aeron Full Protection Softshell jacket, when the temp dropped below 5 degrees I wore a thin base layer. It kept me dry, warm and is wind proof.

Go for something soft shell

Go for something soft shell and waterproof rather than a hardshell would be my advice. Far more breathable, comfortable,  better fit and less flappy and you’ll sweat less inside. When the waterproofing gets a bit crap, chuck it in the tumble dryer to get in back to new again.

Made from eVent and it’s even reduced!….I have one of these and it’s designed for fast road use. It’s a high quality item, and if you don’t like the look of it, you can always return it. Good old Wiggle.
