30mm crank axle on a 68mm threaded Bottom Bracket

The subject tells it all.

I've got my hands on a cheap BB386EVO FSA crank that I want to fit to a Planet X London Road, has a standard 68mm wide bottom bracket shell.   I'm aware FSA do a 386EVO bottom bracket, but it doesn't have a great reputation.

There are a few other manufacturers that do bottom brackets for this shell (i.e. outboard bearings) that will take a 30mm axle, such as Hope and Rotor.  Sometimes they seem to use the 'BSA 30' label.  Are the two - BSA 30 and BB386 interchangeable?   I've had a good hunt around various forums, but can't find a definitive answer.

Thanks in advance for any advice, Rob.

Worth asking Wheels Manufacturing. They make a huge variety. For instance the BB86 push fit to BB30 bearings I need.

Thanks again!  That's a push fit, though.  the two halfs of the BB are threaded to engage with each other inside the push fit shell.  It solves the problem of a creaky BB which seems inherent in many pushfit standards.  Ironic that the solution is to return to a threaded BB!

It's more like this I was thinking of: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/rotor-bsa-30mm-steel-bottom-bracket/r...

You were right about Shimano size my fault.

Thanks CXR - a Shimano bearing would be for a 24mm axle (rather than the 30mm axle for the 386) though wouldn't it?

The thing is that I have an old-school threaded bottom bracket - the type of thing that would take a UN-52 cartridge with square tapers in times past.    So FSA do one that fits (see: http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/fsa-bb368-evo-road-bottom-bracket/) but it doesn't have the best reputation, and I can't find an equivalent 386evo bottom bracket this side of £100.

Hence my question about BSA 30!

Seems you can use pressfit plastic cups into frame and Shimano threaded bearings.
