Following my other thread on rollers with resistance and some stellar advice from the likes of CXR94Di2 and reading other posts I’m heading towards buying an interactive smart trainer – already checked thelaptop and interent connection in garage so OK on that front and have a tablet and Garmin Edge 820 already.

Having looked at DC Rainmaker’s site last year he recommended the Tacx Vortex and this year there are 4 in the running in the mid level.  I’d like to think I could buy a Tacx Flux but not sure if it will take the bolt thru – so have emailed Tacx support.  He did say that the Tacx Vortex seemed the least robust of the four and as I’m around 100kg not sure if thats the best option – it’s certainly the cheapest (on offer at Wiggle) but if it won’t take the axle length its an expensive door stop.

I think with an adaptor most wheel in trainers would take a 142mm axle – my question is has anyone else had this issue and what did they end up getting?

    Thanks for any help

There is Bkool, which I find

There is Bkool, which I find is more varied than Zwift.  Good Graphics on Zwift, but I dont know if I would become a little bored after riding the same routes over and over.  I have ridden virtually a different route every other day for several months with Bkool.  Two days ago, I nearly killed myself riding for over 3 hours up Mt. Teide.  The day before that I was racing a 12 mile course from Finland. This week I am doing part of the Rio 16 course and a workout session on Trainerroad.  Bkool and Trainerroad are Android compatible

I have a Wahoo Kickr and use

I have a Wahoo Kickr and use the 142×12 adapter with a Trek Domane 4.5 Disc, works perfectly. You may still be able to get the older Kickr product at a discounted price.

Can’t help on the lack of android support for Zwift though. What about TrainerRoad? Brilliant, methodical way to increase fitness.

    Thanks VeloUSA – don’t think

Thanks VeloUSA – don’t think I wrote my question that well.

Looking at the link you posted my rear will fit in a Vortex with adaptor T1708 or even in the flux with a T2835 (second to last on the list).

Just wondered what others with bolt thru axles got – if anything and how they went about it.

But having researched Zwift a little more I may bail on the whole experience as I have a pc that can run it but my tablet and phone are Android which does not support it and my laptop doesn’t have a good enough graphics card.  So a litle stumped as I can’t relocate the pc to the garage…

    Tacx Vortex is not 142x12mm

Tacx Vortex is not 142x12mm compatible. Tacx, however, does sell a direct drive quick release 142x12mm set. Link to Tacx trainer axle dimensions.

A note on the Flux, it does not accept long cages.
