I have the Strada Mk6 and have had no problems with the button at all, even with winter gloves. The brightness is easily adequate even on our terrible roads and of course the real benefit is the lack of an external battery, just leave a (USB) charger at work and charge it back up during the day.
I was so impressed i now have 3 other Exposure lights for different applications.
I have a Strada MK4 (i think) and have found it to be great for both town & country riding. It's very well built and the mounting system is great and very solid; the light won't budge once you've got it dialled in. I've only used the switch on the light itself thus far and it's proven to be quite reliable although it sometimes takes a few more taps then normal if you have winter gloves on. Think I might give the remote switch a go this winter. Quite expensive but once you've got one in your hands you know it's money well spent.
Thanks Chaps, more of this please
I was hoping to keep the setup minimal and so avoid putting on any extra wires or buttons on the handlebars - after all it is an all-in-one unit.
It seems people have a love or hate relationship with the touch functionality as well as a few seal issues so I was hoping to get a few owners to pass comment for a balanced view. Generally people report problems on the internet and the happy owners just say it's great
The problem with publication reviews is they rarely address the niggles the users experience. For example the road.cc review of the Mk6 calls the capacitive touch a 'button' and no comment on how easy/hard it was to use with hand/glove/toe while cycling through the modes
Regarding going for USE, i like that they manufacture in Britain and since I bought my last lights in 2004 i'm ok with paying a premium as it's a long term investment
I think they had issues with the early releases. I bought one early and found it awkward, but USE replaced it under warranty, and it's now absolutely fine. The light is excellent for mixed road and forest trail use, but for pure road use I don't find it hugely better than the Ixon IQ premium except for very prolonged use, although the mounting system is much better.
or you could buy 4 of these !

I've found this an excellent light , the battery is a bit of a lump, but decent run time and excellent illumination pattern for road use.
It is, I have one for dark roads etc, but its beam is fullbeam like, and while is a fantastically punchy light, having both a wide beam but also a reasonable throw, but it's truely unpleasant looking into its beam even on low, the Strada is supposed to have a road friendly wide-flat beam for not being blinding.
i've not seen the Strada's beam shape so it might still be blinding! But the MagicShine has a good MTB beam shape, which makes it awkward if you meet other riders/cars etc. I don't so it works well for me.
The exposure website is slightly confusing. The Strada 1200 says under features "positive switch" but both show the capacitive switch symbol underneath, and both come with a remote switch. I suspect that the remote isn't capacitive, so maybe that is an ok solution for you?
You could try one with a normal switch? I have the Diablo Mk 6 which is also a bit smaller and lighter than the Strada (which I owned previously).
Want to know too. Also eyeing up the Strada.
