There is a great topic over on Bike Radar about Chris King developing a new standard of bottom bracket. The T47 which hopefully should solve the creeky push fit problems once and for all. It’s a good read.

Very true, Mtb’s now have 35mm diameter bars and stems as an option and ive seen some road bike manufactuers heading down this road too

It’s a modification of the PF30 standard, which I’ve heard is one of the most problematic of the press-fit bottom bracket designs.

T47 sounds great in theory but there are real-world challenges that prevent its adoption. James Huang (formerly of BIkeRadar) already wrote something up on this.

Good read but it will never be adopted by all bike manufactuers so it will just end up being another standard to add to the collection

Would be intresting to see how many maufactuers are acutally using the Chris King design given that the article is now 9 months old

    Just searched for the article

    Got a link?

All i could find was this

    http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/article/five-reasons-why-the-t47-bottom-bracket-wont-solve-everything-45698/

I think it maybe a good idea for people who’s bb has begun to creak but as said in the article if its started to do it within the warranty period then demand a replacement!

As with anything on a road bike it will never be the one standard, just another one to the already too many that there are

Personally i like Colnago’s approach of using two large threaded cups which you press the press fit bb into then thread into the frame, mines never creaked in 5000+ miles and as the bb shell has to be quite large it allows them to oversize the downtube making the whole bb area much stiffer and its all easily replaceable if you did ever have an issue
