Hi
I’m about to buy my first serious bike in my mid forties. I left the Forces 6 years ago fairly fit but had surgery on my legs meaning i couldn’t run any more. I was told I’d be ok cycling due to lack of impact. I was also found to be diabetic upon leaving (runs in the family unfortunately. I’m classed as type 2 with type 1 parent).
With the drugs i take Hypo is possible. I carry glucose shots for this scenario.
I’d like to know if there are other diabetics out there riding and how do they manage.
My first planned route is only 12 miles to see how i am and how my blood sugars cope whilst still being close to home for my missus to rescue me (she worries a lot).Any advise greatfully appreciated.
