I am visiting Croatia in August and plan to do some cycling – has anyone any advice regarding roads, traffic etc.?

I’m staying in Dubrovnik.

Thanks Mark!  That’s good to know.  I am hoping to base myself in Dubrovnik and then do some long rides along the coast.

Are you going there and stopping in Dubrovnik?

If you can, I would recommend taking a few days to head up the coast to split.

It’s one road all the way up, the scenery is very nice and it’s a great ride. This road hugs the coast for the most part but heads inland briefly.

The road quality is generally very good and drivers are far more tolerant of cyclists that over here.  

Overnight, stay in small campsites along the way.  They are extremely cheap and the people are very friendly.

 

Once you get to Split you could always get the ferry back down to Dubrovnik.
