Can anyone suggest a good reason to stay signed up for another year as a road.cc member? Its not exactly vibrant on this community forum.

My problem is I’m too far

My problem is I’m too far north to participate regularly (Edinburgh).

I’ll stay signed up mind, I like the discounts and I’m happy to support to club and website.

I’m very happy with the club!

I’m very happy with the club!

I have been involved with numerous club rides, met loads of really nice poeple. Particpated in a couple of taste tests. Lucky enough to get a place on the R24 roadcc team. and made some new friends.

I’ll say it again, I’m very happy with the club!

I guess you get out what you put in.

In regards to the forums, I very rarely check it. I do try to contribute, but I’m just not a forum person to be honest. In my experince they always seem to be full of people who talk more than they actually do.. I prefer the open forum of the road, talking face to face to people.

But hey, whilist I’m here, any one around the New Forest area fancy a meet up this weekend? 14th or 15th May? I will be out cycling so if any one fancies meeting up for a coffee/pint, let me know 🙂

I wonder how it must look

I wonder how it must look from the point of view of Dave and the other Road.cc staff to see so many threads in the member section with no responses. I do feel the temptation to try and contribute but I often don’t have anything to add so don’t. Plus at least the comment contributions are still generally of decent quality here and in the rest of the site as opposed to those on the Facebook page!

I still like the idea of the club and having won a Friday Schwagaway totally out of the blue I have probably got my money’s worth this year (plus it was great timing, finidng out at the end of quite a trying and demotivating week at work that I had won). But time and again they have asked what we want out of it and everyone seems to be struggling to come up with something- maybe it is just the old human need to belong to a group that is the big attraction!

I would like to see more of the competitions restricted to members only but then I suppose they are the main reason many people come to the site in the first place- you only have to look at how many of the comments have [1 post] beside the names to see how much new traffic they push this way. Maybe road.cc members could be given two entries in competitions as opposed to one for non-members? Or reduced premium membership of the fantasy game?

Part of the issue is that so many of the bits posted in the members forum are limited  geographically or otherwise- eg living in NI I am unlikely to have visited a particular coffee stop somewhere in the depths of England, or I am not currently experiencing any mechanical issues that I need dealt with in a Q&A so I can’t really contribute there.

So in answer to your question of why to sign up again- bit of a cop out on my part but I feel that will be different for everyone- it depends why they signed up in the first place. I probably will give it another year just to see what comes out of it, but I can also see why others may decide it isn’t for them.

Agree the forum is a bit

Agree the forum is a bit quiet, however £15 ain’t much and I’ll renew for a new pair of socks and some more member only competitions.

The baited breath every friday to win some a dvd and a t-shirt (schwagaway) has become something I look forward to.
