I have a pair of kyrsium elite s wheels which came on a bike with 11 speed campagnolo that i want to use on an older bike that is kitted out with campagnolo chorus 10 speed but the 10 speed cassette will not fit over the mavic free body which has a bulge half way down but whenever i have seen the mavic wheels advertised as suitable for  10/11  cassette or have i got this wrong can anybody help

You’ll need to post pictures as old 10spd cassettes fit perfectly on 11spd freehubs, with or without the 10spd spacer in place – I run the same on my winter bike.

yes thats it i havnt tried

yes thats it i havnt tried sliding any of the other sprockets on other than the one thats supposed to go on the inside but ill give it a go just in case there is some damege to the biggest sprocket thanks for the suggestion

Do you mean a bulge as shown in the picture on page six of this Mavic user guide?

I can’t see why that would stop the 10s sprockets sliding on unless they were the older design with 8 keys instead of 4 but even then the freehub body should be designed to accommodate them. Can you slide any of the 10s sprockets past there or do they all stop?

these wheels have hardly been used the  11 speed cassette fits on just fine but as i say the shape of the free body (by design ) is different to the older freebody the splines are all the same but the width of the body half way down increases thus stopping the sprockets going any further these are not burrs or wear on the free body. i should say i have been using mavic and campgnolo for about 16 years and not had problems like this before

Assuming you hav campagnolo

Assuming you hav campagnolo freehub and matching cassette-The steel of sprocket are stronger that the alloy of the free in body. A well used one can develop deformities where the sprocket eats into the freehubbody on the drive face. If there are any raised areas they can be lightly filed off and the sprocket will fit on fully.

no its part of the shape the splines are all straight and i have hardly used the wheels and the 11 speed fits just fine

Seems very strange to me?? Works fine on the shimano versions.

Is your freehub somehow buggered? A bulge dosnt sound right. Sure it’s not cracked or split somewhere?
