Tacx Satori Smart problems

    Hi,

Has anyone experienced these problems before and can share their solution please?

I picked up a new Tacx Satori Smart from Evans Cycles last night. I’m having two issues:

The trainer makes an unusual whirring noise at slow speed that rises and fades. The noise isn’t in time with pedalling or wheel rotation; it’s as if something in the spinning parts is resonating. I’ve used turbos before and understand that they are far from silent, but this noise isn’t like anything I’ve heard before. I’ve tried changing tyre pressure, tyre, clamping force, speed, floor surface, even bike, and it doesn’t stop the noise. Oddly, at high speed, >25mph, the noise stops and the trainer runs smoothly and quieter than at 10mph!

Using the calibration feature in the app, it constantly reads off the bottom of the scale in the “too loose” direction. This happens with both the Andriod and iOS smartphone apps. The trainer is successfully transmitting speed, cadence, and power, so it’s not a total failure to communicate. Even once I increase clamping force to the point where the roller it pushing half way into the tyre, it still reads the same.

    Thanks

Thanks for the input. I imagine I’ll be taking it back due to the noise issue anyway, hopefully the new one will calibrate more easily. I was originally at about 110psi, with a turbo specific tyre.

I had this noise on the cheaper Flow Smart vesion but at higher speeds. I took it back to Decathalon and swapped it, new one does not make this noise and is much quieter, however I experinced problems with calibrating the tension, resolved by upping the tyre pressure to about 125 psi.
