Garmin Vector Pedal

II've wanting to get some type of power meter and recently purchased a Garmin Vector Right Pedal only ( for abour 1/2 of retail). I bought it knowing that it may not work without the left pedal. When I wake the pod, it blinks 4 times - meaning that it is looking for the left pedal. My computer can't find it and neither can my Garmin 510. I'm assuming that the system is controlled by the left pedal and that the right pedal sends info to the left pedal and not to the head unit. Done a lot of research but can't find the answer. Is there a way to fool the system into working with the right pedal only? I bought this knowing  that I may need to purchase a left pedal as well so not a waste of money- at least not yet. Thanks for any help!

the pods are not L/R specific I often mix mine up (I did post another issue on here I can not get an answer to :-)).

the reason why you can not fool the system is that the right is desgined to pick up the signal only from the left and then transmot onwards, you can not fool it.

Only option is buy the left.

I didn't think the pods where l/r specific, but I could be mistaken.
