any body tried to use these with a 105 5700 rear mech.will they work ok

I don’t know anything about anything, but I’ve read the pull ratio is same as 11 speed stuff (for future upgrade options, possibly). If that’s the case, these might work with a 5800 RD. Not sure if the cage would be too narrow for a 10 speed chain though. Older 10 speed levers won’t work woth a 5800.

Also worth remembering that a set of the older 105 5700 10sp levers cost the same (brand new, from CRC etc) as the new Tiagra levers. If you’re just after nice set of 10 speed levers as an upgrade, I’d probably go with those…

The word is that they won’t.  The buggers have changed the cable pull so neither the shifters nor the rear mech can be used with older 10 speed stuff.  Still be interested to know if anyone has tried it in practice though.

People have come to grief trying to use a 5800 rear mech on older 10 speed
