MTB style pedals

I'm in the market for some off road type pedals.

I had some Shimano SPD's a year or two ago, but didn't like the feel of them. Too "locked in" for my liking.

I use Looks on the road and always have done so I'm wanting something that replicates that feel.

Whadya reckon road.cc-ers.

Funnily, I find my Shimano SPD-SLs easier to clip in and out of than my SPDs. Must check the tension on the latter.

(from a Retrobike post)

SM-SH51 are 4degree float
SM-SH52 are 6 degree float
SM-SH55 are zero degree float but multirelease... best for casual users/commuter

There are differen SPD cleats that offer different degrees/range of mevement. (SH-5X). There are also very low retention "Click'r" Shimano pedals that use SPD cleats.

Personally, I enjoy being able to walk normally when off the bike

I tried spd's in the past and didn't like them. Switched to Time Atacs which allow much more movement.

There are many mtb pedals but nothing competes with reliability and cost as Shimano spd, £12/pair . I have seen pedals at over £100 that do the same job!
