8-speed refurb chainset

Hi all,

I'm planning to give my old Cinelli a new lease of life and first step is to replace the drive chain. The group is 8 speed in the main but has got what I think is a 9-speed chainset (Record - 90's) Can anyone confirm if this is 8-speed or 9-speed (does it matter??) pic on link below...

I'm looking for a pattern chainring replacment; do stronglight make these? Can anyone with more experiance direct me to some that will fit??

Thanks in advance

It's a 9 or 10 speed Record (or late model 10 speed Chorus). The difference between 9 and 10 is a fraction shaved off the back of the big ring so the rings are slightly closer.

They're 135bcd . Plenty of aftermarket rings available, including Stronglight. Make sure it says it's for a Record chainset, as the bolt hole for behind the crank arm is countersunk the opposite side to the rest.

Some still available NOS, eg
