Have used the "xtreme" version of these for last month or so. So far very pleased - light, no punctures and grippy. Previously used "vredstein fiammante" wire beaded which lasted 2k with one puncture.
thanks all, Vredestein Fortezza Senso All Weather ordered! waiting for the postman!
I ran them toward the end of last winter after a particularly scary episode on some spesh armadillos.
The grip and puncture resistance is really good, but they don't last as long as the Contis
thanks, i'm on Michelin Pro4 Endurance right now, found them to be much more durable than the contis - have seeen by far the highest road miles go past, of all my tyres so far.
just thought why not try something different.. hence the vreds..
hope he's not complaining about the bike either
Nah, he seems quite chuffed with it.
I've not had durability issues with the Continentals - the GP 4 Season got me through half a year of daily commuting (40 mile roundtrip) during winter before I replaced them. I realise they may get cut up more easily than others, but that's just the price to pay for the increase in grip. I don't mind that at all, it's not like tyres cost an arm and a leg. Losing traction on a fast descent however might.
Fitted them to a bike I built for a mate. Not used them myself, but he picked them mainly because they had a rubber compound as grippy as the one used for Continentals but weren't Continentals (my tyre of choice), and he's not been complaining so far (not about the tyres anyway). I'd say go ahead, they seem pretty decent.
