Very odd then
Only thing i can suggest is plugging the bike in and making sure you have the most upto date firmware on each of the components then try adjusting the front mech via the software
Can you not borrow a laptop from someone for a hour to run the e-tube software?
If not then a trip to a good local bike shop, explain the situation and ask if they can update the firmware for you (its very easy to do even if they dont specialise in di2) cant see them charging you more than 30 mins labour for doing it
This website is really useful for Di2 owners,
http://carltonbale.com/shimano-di2-everything-you-need-to-know/
There is a section on FD adjustment and there is an active Q&A section
Thanks Kev. I tried it with the chain on the the big ring and big sprocket - as per the Shimano instructions. Interesting to know this works for you because it definitely doesn't for me.
Yup... you adjust the inside trim and the system automatically calculates the outside trim for when you are in the other front/ rear extremes.
Right a quick Google and a check on my bike and ive solved it
So to micro adjust the front mech, before you enter the adjustment mode make sure your on the big ring at the front and the big cog at the back
Press the button on the junction box as usual and you should be able to micro adjust the front mech
You must be in the gear setting s above, it wont work in any other combo and must be in those gears before you go into the adjustment mode
Yeah ive never managed to do it via the manuals way when i set up my first 11 speed di2 bike, ive built a few of them now and always have to do it via the e-tube software on the front mech
Thanks again Kev,
I had seen this suggested, but am a bit wary. It starts becoming time consuming and intimidating for a luddite like me...
The Shimano Dealers Manual for the 6870 (DM-UL0001-00-ENG) shows the front mech it is adjustable from the lever (page 57). It is very strange this is not the case!
I'm injured and off the bike at the moment, so this is the moment to try.
Cheers,
N
Use this free trial to run windows programs on your mac

Kev, that's really helpful, thank you.
I have just had a look at the e-tube site, and it doesn't look like it is compatible with a Mac. This is going to get interesting...
You cant adjust the trim on the front mech by using the shifter like you do the rear mech
You need to connect your bike upto the your pc using the e-tube battery charger
Then using the e-tube software (free to download from shimano) you can make adjustments to the front mech
Its simple to do and takes just a few mins
