Threaded crank – Pedal bodge required

    I broke a pedal on my bike a week ago and replaced it with a similar old pedal but I’ve threaded the crank arm as the newer pedal has worked it’s self loose.

    It popped off on my way in to work this morning and now isn’t screwing in to the crank arm at all.

    I appreciate that this is probably going to need a new arm or rethreading but for the time being, does anyone know of a bit of cowboy engineering that’ll get it fixed on for the ride home?

    Rode home fine.

    Rode to a friends and then to the pub absolutely fine.

    Rode home again and it was still fine.

    Rode in to work this morning and it’s still solid as a rock.

    So that’s over 20 miles of riding and it feels better than ever, but thanks for your condescension.

    In case anyone comes looking
    In case anyone comes looking for an answer in the future;

    I’ve threaded the pedal through from the opposite side (so the pedal is inside the diamond of the frame.) which pushed through a load of shavings presumably where it has recut the threads and I have managed to fit the pedal in the correct way.

    It feels completely solid and secure with no play.

    I’ll update when I/if I get it home this evening!
