Can anyone recommend/advise on the best websites or weather apps for the Pyrenees? I off down their shortly for my 1st time in the mountains and want to be able to check the weather accurately before heading off from the gite.

Just as a follow up, the forecast for here was cloudy. I am sitting under a clear blue, sun filled sky. I use them as a guide but always have a light jacket. Sometimes you may get to a col dripping with sweat and it’s useful for a cooler descent. Have fun!

I asked a met-and-mountaineering-buff Swiss mate the same thing in advance of last year’s Etape; he said the same; metbleu and meteofrance are as good as can be done, but they’re also next to useless as the high mountains in summer are the high mountains in summer. Perhaps you can rule out an extreme at one end or the other, but be prepared for all eventualities.

I live in the Pyrenees. Near
I live in the Pyrenees. Near Luchon. We look at meteobleu. It amends its forecast almost hourly becaue it is so hopeless. There is no reliable forecast. I assure you that the long term forecasts are a waste of time. The further west you are the more unreliable it is. Do not look more than one day ahead. Then there are storms. Almost anywhere at anytime. Even so, just had 6 weeks without getting damp.

I use weatherpro HD on my Android handset. A lot of weather apps/sites use the same info from the met off. WeatherProHD is provided by Meteo Group.

meteofrance.com, in french of
meteofrance.com, in french of course but fairly easy to figure out the weather translations. Just put in the postal code beside ‘previsions’ (forecast) and you’ll get a seven or fourteen day forecast for that town/city.
