Ive looked online and few people say it wont work

I’m currently running 11-32t Ultegra di2 on one bike with the gs cage

Was curious if the 11-32 cassette would work with the Dura ace di2 ss cage on my other bike

    Both bikes use 34-50 cranks

Happy to say that it works fine, all i did was swap the rear wheel over and it shifts fine

Had to make no adjustments to the rear mech, the chain length didn’t need to be changed

Out of interest what is the advantage of the short cage over the long cage? Slightly snappier shifting? Otherwise why don’t they just ship all bikes with the long cage so anyone can change to a bigger cassette?

Lighter? Shorter side plates will also be stronger? Cheaper?

You may get issues using gears you probably will never use 50/32 etc but for the most of it you’ll be fine! 😀

I did a similar test – 11-32 Ultegra cassette on standard mechanical Dura Ace rear derailleur and it works a treat, so well in fact I’ve left it on!

An alternative is a longer derailleur hanger, you could make one, I did for my mountain setup and can run 11-40 xtr cass with a gs di2 derailleur.
