Who out there has this combo?
I’ve just got a set of 4.5 SES’s with the R45’s. The rims are amazing the hubs and the overall build straight from ENVE I’m not so sure about.
The hubs are noisy, the weird freewheel noise I don’t mind it’s all the accompanying scratchy, rattly odd noises I don’t like. Not keen on all the mucking about you have to do in the early days and I’m definitely getting the drag thing before all the whatevers have worn in.
I should just man up and take it as they’re some of the best hubs going right?

The main question I have is: once set up and preloaded correctly should I be able to move both rims pad to pad? The brakes are fairly well backed off. My instinct is they’ve been built with too much lateral play in them but before I make a tit of myself by sending them back I’d appreciate any input.
    Ta.

I use the R45s with HED
I use the R45s with HED Belgium C2 rims. I don’t get any scratchy sounds. The freehub sounds like a swarm of bees, but you know, “loud hubs save lives”.

My only complaint is that the bearings come loose often, which I understand is common with the R45s.
