I would like to draw your attention to an interesting way to sell high end cycles. There is a cycle auction taking place at Sandown Race Course, Esher, on Sunday July 19th.
There are some very nice cycles in the auction- Moots, Serotta, Waterford, BMC etc.
All profits from this auction are being donated to the Macmillan Trust and Salisbury Hospice.

There are a few new items
There are a few new items entered into the auction- some lovely Lightweight and Envy wheels.
Its worth coming for a look even if you don’t want to buy as some of the bicycles are really unusual and the auction house is donating all of its profits from this auction to the Macmillan Cancer Trust and to the Salisbury Hospice.

Ebay charges 10% of the final
Ebay charges 10% of the final fee, paypal another 1.4-3.4%. If you want to put a reserve on the cycle ebay charges a another 4%.
When putting a high end cycle on Ebay it is very easy for the cycle to get lost amongst the thousands of other cycle parts on Ebay and if you do not put it in the correct category or description……..
Then you need to arrange couriers and packaging the bicycle!
I think that this is actually not a bad deal.

As for the warranty- it is an auction and as the law says- caveat emptor.

Buyers premiums are pretty
Buyers premiums are pretty common and are often used in place of sellers premiums (Though I note veloauctions are charging both at 14%) as they tend to be non-negotiable, but bidders have to remember they are there and adjust their hammer prices accordingly. Christies typically charge a 25% buyers premium and use a sliding commission scale for sellers.
