Significant move really.

I would imagine a new sponsor can be found but the driving forced for Sky sponsorship of cycling was James Murdoch and he is being sent to the US to take over from Daddy. Wonder how long Team Sky has then ?

No question Sky improved
No question Sky improved British cycling but this was because James Murdoch was such a big fan and did it against much opposition within Sky who never wanted the TV rights.

Now Murdoch has gone to the States they pull the funding, that does not surprise me and I wonder how long they have left on funding Team Sky.

From memory this was a mega multi million deal and I think BC will be very lucky to find a similar one at all.

Could it be that BC are placing too high a value on their product and Sky is unwilling to pay that price?
Could it be that Sky only want to have high end sponsorship of a single cycling entity and have decided that the commercial value in Team Sky is higher being a more active global product?

Only Sky know. One thing is for certain and that is that Sky will leave BC in a far healthier condition than when it first got involved. Finding a sponsor should not be too difficult, but lets hope it is the right type of sponsor that can work with BC to drive the sport forwards again.
