Speedway style dirt deflector?

Saw a guy on a MTB this morning fitted with something that looked like the dirt deflectors they use in speedway (think ass saver attached to a bar coming off the stays so that it sticks out from the tyre), although the deflector was at about the 10 o'clock position on the back wheel rather than 7 o'clock. Looked ridiculous. Anyone seen something like that for sale? If not I might start a kickstarter campaign to flog them myself. More sensible than most cycling related campaigns on there :D
