Hello everybody hoping for some advice. Been cycling for around eight months just completed my first 100 miler and looking to upgrade my bike. First place is the wheels, I have a cube peloton race with standard fulcrum 77 wheels fitted. Been having a look around and have narrowed it down to Fulcrum Racing 3 Clincher Wheelset for £276 or a Campagnolo Scirocco 35 Clincher Wheelset for £165

Any thoughts or ideas would be most appreciated or alternative suggestions, budget could stretch to £350 at a push (if I hide the receipts from the Mrs)

I replaced the stock Mavic
I replaced the stock Mavic Aksiums on my road bike with Fulcrum 3s a couple of years ago. While I had been thinking about upgrading my wheels I only did so because I cracked the rim of the Mavic front wheel.

I have been very happy with the 3s. They feel good, are definitely stiffer as I got brake rub on the original wheels when out the saddle, but I don’t on these. I also bought better tyres (GPS4000 25mm) at the time of change. I don’t have any experience with Fulcrum 77s.

I doubt you will be disappointed with the Fulcrum 3s, but whether you will feel enough of a benefit to justify the outlay…….

The two things that I
The two things that I upgraded on my bike that had the biggest impact on the ride was upgrading the brake blocks and the cables. Braking was much more direct and controlled which lead to more confidence and the changing improved. It also has the advantage that you have learn how to set up the dérailleurs properly which gave me more confidence when tweaking things.

you might as well wait until
you might as well wait until your current ones die before you get new ones, or like the person above said, get some good summer tyres like schwalbe ones, you can always change back to whatever tyres you have on now once the good weather is over.

As Derny mentioned already
As Derny mentioned already those wheels wont make big upgrade from fulcrums.
Get yourself a pair of fast rolling tyres and that will do.
Dont forged your legs are the biggest upgrade so train hard.

Unless your wheels are worn out, it doesn’t sound like a worthwhile upgrade to me.
