Cycling is Possible Without an App...

First Sportive of the season yesterday, and well done to UK Cycling Events and Cycling Weekly for putting on the very well organised/signed (IMHO) South Downs Spring Sportive. I didn't need the A4 paper map which I'd stuffed on top of my saddle rails. But check this out... At the start, I looked at my watch. I did the same at the end. And my estimated time was exactly the same as that generated by the event timing gear. So try leaving the Garmin at home and ride 150g lighter 21 3

Can't remember when I deleted my Strava & Mapmyride accounts maybe 6-8 months ago (there's a thread on here somewhere about it?)
I've since joined a new club closer to home & not looked back since & in fact starting to cycle more than I ever did all without any app, my friend has offered me a Garmin 800 less than a year old for free as he bought the 1000, told him I'd rather not thank u all the same - app free happy cyclist, fast approaching my fifies too - must be a age thing!! 16

There's a KoM near me that never exceeds 3%, and it's only as steep as that for a hundred metres. Some mountain, some achievement.

Why not call 'em what they are: Fastest Across Reasonable Terrain.

Now, what we need is an acronym to help us remember that ........

One simply doesn't win King of the Mountain without Strava.

Sorry I though this was a meme.

Cycling is possible without a GPS? Are you sure? Which left-wing revolutionary told you this nonsense? Is UKIP behind it ? Did it originate in a Nigerian internet cafe?

Cycling is possible on a brompton - but I'm not about to do 100k on one.

I like using Strava as it allows me to monitor my progress and try to improve myself, the same way I count lengths when I swim and try to improve each time.

Well done for not using it though, must have been pretty liberating.

Yeah, but...
How do you.....
But....

Actually have no argument, never relied on anything but my legs when I was younger and not sure whether all this number crunching actually adds to the enjoyment of going for a ride.
In fact while injured being able to see my decline quantified in cold calculating figures was pretty depressing.
