Thanks for the reply. Good to know.
There was another thread on this somewhere else I think where a couple of people said this. It's not my experience. I bought a Xeon CRS with 105 and the excellent own brand wheels. Quoted weight was 7.5kg +/- 5%, it comes in at 8kg with pedals and saddle bag according to Park Tools bike scales.
Sorry to revive an old thread. I am in the market for the ROSE X-LITE TEAM-4000, with a claimed weight of 6.05kgs. I do a lot of climbing and want the lightest bike I can get for my money but have read that Rose claimed weights are a lot less (around 700gs) than the actual weight. Has anyone actually weighed their Rose bikes to see if the actual weight is he same as the claimed weight? Thank you.
My CDX3000 shipped last Wednesday just after 6am our time & still isn't on Parcel Force's tracking system. Want my new toy
My Xeon CDX 3100 Di2 has shipped now. I know there's a road.cc review coming up of the Sram/Spyre version soon - but I'll post some thoughts on the Ultegra Di2/Shimano Hydraulic Discs version once I've had a ride (next weekend I'd have thought). There seems to be a lot of interest in this particular bike
My first post on here but I might as well come in swinging! I've been using my Rose Xeon CRS for a few months now and it's outstanding. It's light (a shade over 15lb), stiff but not uncomfortable and fast. Stomp on the pedals and it just goes. Quickly.
I can't recommend Rose enough. As a few have said, you get a hell of a lot of bike for your money and the service from them has been faultless.
Shameless bike pic time...

hi there. Lovely bike! I'm looking to get one myself, and wondered what your thoughts were on it, a year later?
Also, the red seat clamp? Is that standard?
If you like combining-changing parts, customising, then Rose is your company. Esp. that they have glossy and light paintjobs, not just the disgusting BoB and AB finishes.
Go for ultegra instead of force IMHO.
I will recommend ultegra set as well.
I'm seriously considering the 1400 quid alloy rose. 6.8 kg - sram force. Or 6.9 kg ultegra. Then a 4-600 aero wheelset. Reviews I've seen of the alloy frame are glowing.
Have you seen the reviews of the new Hinckley Uranium frameset ? That too is glowing !
I have just bought a rose CDX 3000 it took a while to come but well worth the wait . Well finished and lovely to ride , I was a bit worried about sizing but it fits spot on I would recommend them

Nice looking. I say I want a Giant Defy but when it comes down to buying with my hard earned money I probably will go for Rose again with carbon frame and Di2 and Disc options with £1K to spare.
The customisation was a big plus-point for me as well. It's silly things like I use 40cm bars rather than 42cm. Most bikes bought online don't allow those sorts of things to be adjusted.
If you buy from a shop I'm sure they'd swap them for you gratis, but then you are paying for that service, indirectly if nothing else.
I was choosing between the two brands two and went for a rose in the end, i like that you could customize everything.
I have a Canyon Ultimate AL and now a Rose Xeon DX Di2.
I will buy Rose carbon Xeon DX Di2 any day. I waited for Canyon for Disc for two years and in the end I bought my Rose last year July. I love the Di2 its amazing. The Shimano R785 Disc brake is a must for commuting in London and its a joy to use.
As for Rose they are great. The country (UK) manager Finlay is very helpful and I find the service so much better than Canyon. Canyon actually is so annoying that its just too stressful and not very desired customer service.
Value wise Rose wins hands down and you have the Di2 and Disc brake option.
Rose give my wheels a 5 year warranty. Recently I got it trued and mechanic told me that my wheel is warped and I contacted Rose and without question asked they asked me to pack up my old wheels and pick them up and send me new set. How amazing is that?
Canyon I bought a few of their mountain bike and I had to cancel all of them. Delays after delays (over half a year each time) and I have to find out all of them myself. I used to call them all the time and they either don't pick or just don't get back to you. I got so desperate I called Germany and guess what? They told me that they can't help me and I have to contact the UK representatives.
But you've been warned.
Your choice.
As for my next bike ( in a few years ) hopefully will be a Giant Defy Pro 0.
That is a great plus for Rose - I've had loose rear wheel on my new Canyon (DT Swiss Spline R23) and they have told me to send them the wheel on my expense and that they will analyse if it is caused by user mistreatment. I've had the wheel repaired by my local bike shop on my expense - rear hub was not sealed, the water has penetrated it completely, so I had to replace all the bearings.
Sorry to hear that. Good thing my Canyon Ultimate AL has been retired and with no issues and will only be used by my wife for leisure.
Customer service and great business ethics will get Rose further in the end. Hopefully
Obscenely good deal: http://www.rosebikes.co.uk/bike/rose-xeon-rs-3000-748264/aid:748345?bike...
I got a Canyon last year, the Roadlite 7.0 which isn't available in the build I had as they have now started selling as a 'fitness' bike with flat bars. The bike is great, cost me £1050 inc p&p with full ultegra, ritchey bars and stem and mavic aksium wheels. Saying that my previous best bike is a Raleigh record sprint with 6-speed cassette and downtube shifters so I guess I haven't ridden a lot of like-for-like competition.
Anyways customer service wise my experience was only okay. I bought a clearance bike and with these they are a bit funny about swapping things - so I wanted to upgrade to their fancy VCLS2.0 seatpost, which normally costs you £100 to upgrade, but is £200 to buy new and they wouldn't do it. Also I knew I'd need a shorter stem and although they were willing to exchange it they wouldn't do it before sending the bike out so I had the slightly ridiculous situation of them sending me the bike, then sending me the replacement stem a few weeks later and then I had to post the stem back to Germany. I appreciate the bike was already boxed up but they managed to open the box up and put a few things such as spare rear mech hanger and water bottles that I'd bought separately into the main bike box so why they couldn't change the stem is weird.
I don't think any of those things apply to non-clearance bikes though so your only issue with a new one should be waiting time.
My favourite thing about Rose and Canyon is they do 64cm frames whereas most manufacturers only go up to about 60/61cm.
http://www.bike-discount.de/en/buy/radon-spire-7.0-239587/wg_id-657 radon.. ?
though canyon has greater resale value than PX, Rose, radon, Ribble.
All bikes are worth bugger all second hand if they have been ridden for several years. A bike is meant to be ridden not put on a pedestal!
Then there is Planet X where you can also get a hell of a lot of bang for your bucks ! Oh and Ribble ! Why pay over the odds for glossy marketing as they probably all come from the same factory in China or Taiwan. I have a PX RT58 it is great value and brilliant to ride .
You can customise your build to your spec.
There's a 40 quid difference between the rose x lite with sram force to ultegra. SRAM being more expensive. That worth it?
Rose are cheeky, for another 50 here, 50 there, the upgrades are silly. so hard to decide on a model and price that will do. to be honest it'd make more sense for me to spend 1500 max, save again then 500 on a new wheelset.
You lot ain't half helpful i have considered the genesis - itd be nice to show some brand loyalty and theres nothing wrong with 105!! i actually got to handle a propel at the weekend (not ride) lovely machine. the heavy wind i was facing either side of that brief cafe stop would be a concern on an aero bike no? aero would clearly be handy for the tris and iron
Was in a similar position to you a few months ago, £1500 or so to spend on a bike. I had a shortlist of about 15 bikes and couldn't split them on spec, give or take £50. I hadn't considered an aero bike, and as soon as I started looking at them seriously I knew it was what I wanted. The decision came down to either a Giant Propel or a Fuji Transonic, and tried both. The Fuji looked slightly better, although I didn't really want gloss black. The Propel rode brilliantly, and I was certain. I managed to talk my employers into doing a CTW scheme with the local Giant dealer and have been enjoying the Propel for a month or so now. It's the Advanced 1, so the wheels are not as deep section as some, possibly not what you'd call "aero" at all, so haven't had any issues with cross winds.
If it hadn't have been for the CTW scheme, I would have gone with a Rose of some description, I like the fact you can tweak almost every aspect of the final bike, much more than any other retailer, and you don't see a lot of them on the roads.
Have you looked at Dolan? Also, Evans let you test ride pretty much anything you want if you book it and give them notice.
My genesis is from evans and they were very helpful with test rides. i have considered dolan, they have a 2k bike with zipp wheels! i can only assume the frame is made from biscuits - unless someone can tell me otherwise????
Sergius, I almost ordered that same rose...crazy amount of bike for the money. I have the same brakes on another bike. They are insanely good. You will be pulling 20m stoppies in the wet. Price has now gone up so well done getting bargain bike of the year and do post a review.
