Much to my horror and pain my less than a year old look keo carbon blade pedal sheared off at the axel yesterday on my commute to work. I was out of the sale peddling as normal over a small rise when it just completely sheared off. I went down at what felt like a hundred miles an hour for a tarmac sandwich.

This has damaged my best bike Canyon Ultimate CF SLX 2013, wrecked one of my shoes, bib shorts, front tyre and luckily helmet. I have emailed look telling them of the potential defect and sent them the photos. I hope they get back to me and send me some replacements, but to be fair I will be moving away from look pedals now after 7 years of using them on various bikes.

If you read this and have these pedals just be carful, I’m only 11st10lb and by no means a sprinter so it could happen to you.

It could happen to any pedal,
It could happen to any pedal, or any component.
I’d hardly use it as grounds to change manufacturer, especially after 7 years with no issues.

Dear God, sorry to hear that.
Dear God, sorry to hear that. I remember a friend going down when an Ofmega crank sheared off once and it was nasty. Having a pedal go is something you really don’t expect. Hope it hasn’t shaken you too much and that you make a swift recovery.
