Urgent tyre help

While doing the final setup on my cycle I was holding it off the floor while spinning the rear wheel, it slipped and the rear wheel dropped to the floor, leaving about 30 miles of tyre rubber embedded into the carpet (a really nice beige carpet), the magazine I had positioned to protect the carpet shot out (attracting a witness of a very close personal relationship) and preventing any type of cover story being formulated. I can't be the only one this has happened to, so if any of you have any hints on getting the tyre marks out of carpet PLEASE let me know so I can end the banish, ent of all things Velo related from the shed.

This has happened to me 4 I simply couldn't get it out completely, it did however give my lady another reason to hate cycling my apparent mistress (my wife I think).

Thanks to all, have ordered the Sard and wil give that a try, foamy cleaners did not help a lot, tried a bit of steam but not much of a difference. Wifey has agreat sense of humor, but this is an area with a hidden, sharply defined border with the other emotions best left alone. The mark is in the middle of the carpet (and yes, it is cream coloured), so the chair/plant coverage will not work.

Spray with GT85 and rub with a damp cloth. Will take out oil stains too!

Sard Wonder Soap. It's my secret weapon.

You can get it at the Sanza.co.uk shop online for a pittance.

Even gets chain grease out of chinos.

In my experience such circumstances completely deprive women of their already rudimentary sense of humour. Believe me, there is absolutely no point in grovelling or apologising, it will only serve to make you look weak in her eyes and, let's be honest, she has harboured doubts about your masculinity for some time. Just tell her an incident occurred and you don't want to trouble her little head with the details. That should see you right.

Been there!

Persistence and the application of a foaming carpet cleaner, multiple times is the answer... hope it isn't a cream carpet!

*edit - I accidentally a word*
