I’ve been running a Sora Disc
I’ve been running a Sora Disc CAADX for three months now and it’s been staggeringly good. I normally ride a Bianchi Sempre Pro, but the CAADX has massively increased my winter rides and I’m looking at doing the summer Western CX League now. As it was a second bike, I went for the Sora version over the 105 to save some money, which will probably get reinvested in some better wheels now. The differences across the CAADX range is the core Shimano/SRAM group sets, with many of the additional components (including the brakes) being common, so it’s worth thinking about how the bike (and your use) will evolve this year – I suspect that the Giant spec is similar across the TCX range – the TCX is a great looking bike BTW. I’m suprised that these bikes aren’t being discounted yet and are holding their price. I struck lucky and got mine just after Christmas when Westbrook Cycles dropped the prices a bit, so it may be worth a good search or having a chat with the LBS.
As to mudguards… just throw an AssSaver on it, they’re worth their weight in gold 🙂

I have the caadx 105 (2014
I have the caadx 105 (2014 model), which is great for my badly maintained towpath commute and as a winter trainer. It does have front mudguard eyelets, but they are located halfway up the inside of the fork leg. I have fitted SKS chromoplastic guards, with some mild bending of the mudguard legs. You will have to do something similar at the back to get round the caliper.

I raced CX and have popped
I raced CX and have popped around town a fair amount on a CAADX and it’s a brilliant bike. Lighter and more comfortable than the Boardman CX I normally ride. It doesn’t have eyelets for a front mudguard though, which is a bit dull if you want to use it as a winter trainer. I haven’t ever seen a TCX in real life, so I can’t really compare them.
