Hi all,
Not sure if anyone can help steer me in the right direction but I’m after a flat or low profile headset dust cap to work with Giants Overdrive tapered head tube?
I bought a 2015 Defy 1 last autumn as a year round trainer/commuter and I thought it would be an easy change to make but I’m drawing a blank after hours of trawling the web and can’t learn to love the current lofty position. Standard one fitted is best part of 20mm tall!! If I can’t find anything I will just have to fit a negative rise stem but fingers crossed.
Incidentally, otherwise it’s a fantastic bike. Would recommend to anyone with a similar budget.

The good news is the Overdrive 1 aluminium fork steerer on your bike is 1.125″ meaning you can fit any aftermarket stem on the market, you can easily find something with a big negative rise to lower your front end, it may be easier than finding a headset top cap as they are often proprietary

The problem with OD2 used on some of the Giant bikes is that aftermarket stem choice is very limited, even the new Zipp are only +/-6 degrees, Giant’s OD2 stems are +/-8 degrees, and the Ritchey / Syntace are no better, if you can even find them!

One of my friends using a Propel advanced pro cannot get a stem with enough negative rise to give him the fit he wants, as the head tube is relatively tall even on the small frame. He’s now looking at selling the bike and getting the Propel with the OD1 so he can use an appropriate stem.
