Genesis Croix de fer Recalled

After some research I decided to purchase a Genesis Croix de Fer, when I looked on the Evans Website they are not there anymore, I contacted Evans and they told me they had been recalled due to the front forks and safety issues! Does anyone know anymore info about the situation?? ...or shall I just move on to another brand of bike?

Thanks for you help...(First time poster)

It's a shame that a dodgy batch of forks somehow got through the system but Genesis have been totally upfront about it and no owner should lose out. Not all bike companies deal with these things in such a straightforward fashion.
And, whatever you do, don't let this episode put you off the bike. Mine is now two years old, looks like new yet carries me miles every day in all weathers. And I love it.

I find it often helps to consult the actual manufacturer and not a third party.

Thanks for the reply epcp20, Do you know what the problem with the forks was? I know the design was changed since last seasons model....

croix de fer is an excellent bike. the recall was just on forks, and those that already had the bike had them replaced free of charge. the new shop models now should have the replacement fork fitted. I imagine they were taken off sale just for the period of time they were changing the forks on the bikes in stock.
i'll reiterate that it's a lovely bike to own and you can just about take it anywhere.
