Since MAMILs is usually used as a pejorative, I always like to retort with FLIPPers...
... Fat Lass In Pedal Pushers
Or if you're feeling polite: SLIPPers...
... Senior Lady In Pedal Pushers
Its a WILMA, Women in Lycra, Middle Aged.
How about we just don't give a fuck about folks' gender or clothing choices?
Or, for that matter, age?
Quite. I shall henceforth consider me a PIL.
How about MABIL: Middle aged bicyclist in lycra...
'How about we just don't give a fuck about folks' gender or clothing choices?'
precisely.
'cyclist' seems to work.
They're covered by NGSOSPIL
Non-Gender or Sexual Orientation Specific Person In Lycra
Not sure how sexual orientation is supposed to relate to gender identity and the 'MAMIL' debate, as they are two separate things. A quick Google would tell you that much.
I agree with DeeJayJay, its still MAMIL, but with maiden.
but not maid, as in old maid!
However, I am sure that this will open a can of worms, as it does not allow the inclusion of those who are otherkin; Trans or butterfly...
Trans people generally identify with one gender or the other so MAMIL (man or maiden) would be appropriate. As for people that are genderqueer or other, perhaps MAPIL (person) would be appropriate? But, then, that's if they choose to 'out' themselves of course.
Not sure what you mean by 'otherkin' or 'butterfly', could potentially be offensive to some people. Just my tuppence seeing as though it's 2015 and we're supposed to be living in a progressive society. Also trying to encourage people into the cycling community.
I am led to believe that the female equivalent is Middle Age Maiden In Lycra.
I've seen MAWIL used
