I’m a member of a Facebook group for buying and selling bikes. Recently another member has popped up on the group posting adverts for a wide range of rides at extremely cheap prices. He doesn’t seem to know much about them either (e.g. posting a 2010-ish Carrera MTB as a brand new bike – it’s obviously not a new one as they changed the graphics).

Now, I’m not saying that the bikes *are* stolen, but it is suspicious… I can’t find out where or how to report my suspicions to the police, does anyone have any idea? I’d be pretty hacked off if I saw my bike for sale…

Try and save a picture or
Try and save a picture or printout of the post with the full Web address to give to the police. Try and ask for the police team that covers the area you suspect the Person offering the bikes lives in.
Legislation and stone age technology means that it’s not a case of waving a magic wand and recovering the bikes, but it will help to identify possible offenders to target and take action when the evidence allows.

There are days when I see
There are days when I see guys riding bikes appropriately I just roll my eyes. But I would guess that the police probably pull them over ever now and again.

Guys riding £800-1400 racer bikes on the pavement or with the saddle way to far down. Of course you’d pay a lot of money to ride in such a stupid way…..

As above, phone 101 and report it so that there is an incident created and a cop will be allocated to deal with it. Reporting it to Facebook wont get the bikes back if they are stolen.

Where abouts are you in the country as we had a couple of brothers who have recently been released from pokey who did just that, stole bikes and sold them over FB, Gumtree and Ebay.

You could try the police non-emergency phone number, which is 101, they should be able to advise at least.

You could speak to your local
You could speak to your local police, or possibly report it to Facebook themselves and let them deal with it.
