Thinking of changing my current frame (Trek Pilot 2.1 2005 6061 alloy and bontrager sattelite carbon forks) to something more robust. I ride fairly rough and hilly roads and although the carbon forks do take away the buzz but not the harshness.
Ive had a look and Spacycles in harrogate have their own Audax steel frame at a good price with carbon fork for £315.
Just wondering if there are any other suggestions in this sort of price bracket worth considering

point taken though, ive only had one steel bike which was an old peugeot racer which was stolen, im sure it was faster than my pilot too.
Ill keep the Ribble bike in mind but try a 25mm tyre instead of my 23 to start with

The tyre size, type and pressure are more important than either of them. Frames only deform vertically by mm at the most so don’t get hung up the idea of magical metals.

Both those look good i had looked at the planet x one recently but it would mean getting new wheels as its disc specific.
Hmm, perhaps Ill wait till these rims are worn down then get the kaffenbach and some new wheels.
