    Hi folks

Just looking for some advice. Looking to upgrade to my first carbon bike. Currently have a specialized allez comp from 2010 with shimano 105 on it and custom made wheels. I’ve been doing loads of trawling online and like the look of Dolan bikes. Likes of ribble and Planet X also look good.
Does anyone have a Dolan currently and what would your opinion be on them. I like the look of the L’Etape model and also Tuono. Can get the L’Etape model with full Ultegra and mavic cosmic wheels for under £1600.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Update on the bike guys. I finally went for the Dolan L’Etape carbon with full Ultegra and mavic cosmic wheels. I have a set of handbuilt mavic open pro rims with miche hubs I got last year for current bike so can also interchange the wheels depending on type of ride.

Thanks again for advice. Look forward to getting out on a carbon bike!

I have a Carbon Dual, bought as a frameset and built up myself. I bought it specifically as a winter bike as I fancied carbon and wanted mudguard clearance.

With the the one niggle being that I can’t really fit 25mm tyres when using mudguards something that Dolan claim can be done. Well not with my mudguards.

Otherwise it is a nice bike and comfortable to ride, a lot more than my race bike, though I would race on the Dolan as a second bike or use it quite happily for Sportives / Audax etc.

My mate has a Dual (which is sort of a Tuono with mudguard clearance). He bought it as a complete bike from them, after taking a trip to their showroom and the Ribble one.

He preferred the finish of the Dolan over the Ribbles, and also felt he got more helpful advice. Anyway, he has had it for a couple of years now and is very happy with it.

I bought a multicross frameset from them. The frame is very good for the money, although the geometry info on the site was a bit off / contradictory. I phoned up and a guy, possibly even Terry himself, got a tape measure and headed to the stores to get the actual measurements. It arrived smoothly and has built up into a great bike.

Both of us would happily buy from them again.

Led to believe they’re what a certain cycling knight would ride if he wasn’t contractually obliged to ride Pinarellos. Which must be some sort of recommendation.
